Sizing Guide
Need help understanding which size storage unit to get? The best rule of thumb is to get a “little bigger” than you think you’ll need. It’s no fun moving things twice if the unit you’re using is too small, so it is usually best to have enough extra space for a pathway to access items at the back of the unit.
With that said, here are a couple strategies for picking the right size unit.
Option A – Measure It
You have a couple options here. If you have a big open space in your living room or a garage, you can collect all your furniture and boxes in one spot and measure out the size of the floor space and compare that to our storage unit size options. If you’re renting a moving truck, the truck’s dimensions will help you figure the amount of space you’ll need.
Option B – Estimate It
Estimate how much space you’ll need based on the size of your house. Here’s a general guide.
10′ x 28′ – 280 square feet: About the size of a garage and a half, this unit fits the contents of a fully furnished four bedroom house (or a smaller 5 bedroom house), including oversized items such as a couch, mattress sets, a dresser, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a dining room set, an entertainment center and several large boxes
11′ x 24′ – 264 square feet: About the size of a garage and a half, this unit fits the contents of a fully furnished four bedroom house (or a smaller 5 bedroom house), including oversized items such as a couch, mattress sets, a dresser, a refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a dining room set, an entertainment center and several large boxes
